Revive Me

March 9, 2013 – Revive Me

Revive me according to your loving kindness. Psalm 119:88

If you or someone you know is feeling a bit run down or exhausted of strength, I encourage a look at Psalm 119.  In it David asks for God’s attention, refreshment, and a personal revival.

David’s time as a shepherd gave him extended opportunities to contemplate God and life itself.  In this Psalm he presents a record of his expressions of weakness and the need for spiritual strengthening.  The following verses and brief narrative prayers offer what I imagine was the cry of David’s heart and his meditation.

Lord, I come to You today in need of refreshment.  Your word is very pure and my heart stands in awe of it.  Revive me according to Your word.    Teach me as I meditate on what You promised in days of old.

Revive me in Your way.  There is none like You.  You are just, pure, and holy.  Your perspective is what I need and want the most.  I want Your influence on my life.  I find peace in Your ways alone.

Revive me and redeem me.  I have been afflicted and I stand in need of Your strength and forgiveness.

Revive me in Your righteousness.  Oh Lord, revive me according to Your justice.  Because of Your righteous judgments, great peace have those who love Your law.

Great are your tender mercies. Revive me according to Your loving kindness.

Lord, my spirit is willing, but my flesh is weak.  Send aide, God, and revive me. AMEN

Recording artist Jeremy Camp wrote a song that brings Psalm 119 to life.  Here is a link to that song – LINK (On YouTube)
