The Tube

Posted on May 13, 2013 by Wes in An Inspirational Thought for Today

God is our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end. Psalm 48:14

I had the privilege of escorting my daughter to school in northern England and along the way spent two days in London.  While there, we utilized the underground rail system aka the Tube.  The Tube networks 270 stations in London and transports an average of 3.5 million people to their destinations daily.

We learned important life lessons our first day using the Tube.  First, when you are underground, east and west are indistinguishable.  If you utilize the guides provided for the journey, life can go a whole lot easier.

Admittedly, our learning curve with the Tube included taking some trains in the wrong direction.  We provided free entertainment for the regular riders as we juggled our backpacks, large suitcases, carry-on bags, and a guitar on and off the train cars, and up and down the platform.  We probably could have qualified for a circus act if there had been judges on board.

After our initial problems, we picked up some pocket guides and began utilizing the overhead digital signs for direction of travel.  With a quick glance at our guides, we learned the Tube routes are titled by the station at the end of the line.  With all that information, we could know for certain which way the trains were going and which side of the platform to stand on.

My daughter is very easy going and views many of life’s challenges as an adventure, so we made it through the experience just fine.  But if we would have utilized the guides sooner, we could have avoided some of the hassles and inconveniences along the way.

The journey of life is similar.  The Bible has been provided as our guide.  Life will be easier to navigate if we understand the system and use the guide.

Let me encourage you with this: stay focused on the platform at the end and not so much on the temporary struggles along the way.   The name of our station is heaven and with that as our focal point, we are empowered to overcome every trial in this life.

Have you been using the Bible as your guide for life?  If not, consider dusting it off and searching it for some proven tips on life.  Within its pages God maps out His specific plans and His design to give you a future and a hope.

Blessings,
Wes
