The Great Adoption

Posted on December 16, 2013 by Wes in An Inspirational Thought for Today

We are adopted as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will. Ephesians 2:5

I have been to a few adoption ceremonies.  I have a friend that adopted his grandchild.  My next door neighbors adopted their two boys.  Some very courageous friends adopted 2 girls, and over the next few years adopted the girls’ siblings.   Although all of the children are from different biological fathers, they are now all part of a family of six.

With a civil adoption, the child becomes a legal part of the family.  They are granted the full rights and privileges by their parents and become heirs.  Often their names change to reflect their new family.

All who are in Christ have a new identity as sons and daughters of God (1John 3:1-2).  Those in the family of God have been granted irrevocable rights and privileges as children by the work of Christ.  We are now joint heirs with Jesus, receiving His eternal riches (Romans 8:14-17, 23). The way we live our lives brings testimony of our position with God.

Have you become a son of God and adopted into the family by confessing Jesus as the Son of God?  For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:26).

Are you a peacemaker or rebel?  Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God (Matthew 5:9).

Are you lead by the Holy Spirit?  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God (Romans  8:14).

I hope you are part of the great adoption.
Blessings,
