Say What?

Posted on January 13, 2014 by Wes in An Inspirational Thought for Today

Then they brought to Him one who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech, and they begged Him to put His hand on him. And He took him aside from the multitude, and put His fingers in his ears, and He spat and touched his tongue. Then, looking up to heaven, He sighed, and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.”   Immediately his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plainly. Mark 7:32-27

The man himself couldn’t hear or speak.  The people around him were confident that a touch from Jesus would free him from his limitations.  They brought him into Jesus’ presence and begged for His touch.  They were right in their understanding of the power Jesus possessed, and with just one touch the man was made whole.

We all occasionally need a special touch from Jesus.  Foolishness blinds us and our sin mutes God’s voice.  Sometimes we can’t see any remedy, but hopefully others around us do and step in to help point us back to the right path.

If you need a touch from Jesus, ask.  If it has been awhile since you were quiet before the Lord, maybe it’s time now to take a moment in silence and listen for His words of comfort.  Share what you hear with others and direct them to the cure.

Lord, open my ears to Your voice today.  May my speech bring You glory today.

Blessings,
