Thank you for your words of encouragement, prayers, friendship, and financial contributions. I am very grateful for your interest and involvement in CODE 7. As we enter our third month, let me share some of the exciting things going on.
This past Thursday, February 21, I attended the memorial service for Deputy Jeremiah MacKay. He was killed during the shootout near Big Bear, CA, and was the fourth victim to die at the hands of the gunman targeting law enforcement. I was overwhelmed at the support many agencies shared as the law enforcement community came together to honor one of their own who gave his life for others. Deputy MacKay will always be remembered for his bravery and committed service.
Our police officer prayer started up again this month. We are meeting at my house every other Friday for 30 minutes of prayer. I was blessed to have three officers the first week and six by the time we finished this week. I count every opportunity to share Christ’s love and His sacrifice a privilege and an honor.
February provided an unusual number of opportunities for me to spend time with the officers. I have been out with 11 different officers this month so far. I enjoy strengthening relationships and developing new ones. I continue to hear how glad the officers are to have me around and constantly visible. Some officers are still surprised when it is time to pay for our meal, and I insist on buying. It is great to be able to tell them the citizens of our community support them and want to bless them with a meal and time to sit with the Chaplain to rest, reflect, and be renewed. During our lunches I am often asked sincere questions and engage in deep conversations about family, faith and a relationship with God. It is a blessing that through your generosity to CODE 7, the doors are open for me to share. The officers are very thankful for your generosity to provide lunch, and I am too.
I am blessed to have Horizon South Bay become the first church to support us financially. A special thanks goes out to California Police Equipment for making a product donation and the offer of more in the future. To those skilled volunteers continuing to make CODE 7 look excellent, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’m praying for you as you faithfully create and sustain many of the visible resources.
God continues to amaze me every day. He fills me with wisdom to speak into the lives of the officers when they are ready to talk. What a joy it is to constantly walk in “God” moments. I feel a major part of this CODE 7 is giving to the officers. I am learning to pray more and trust God for provision to supply all the resources needed and to replace what is being given away.
In this month’s Officer Alpha Story, Officer Boy shares his experience of being used to save a life. If you find the story worthy, pass this website along to a friend and help get the word out about the work of CODE 7. You are the most effective and valuable advertising piece of this ministry.
I’m very blessed you are interested in my life and the lives of those serving our community. Your participation with CODE 7 really makes a difference!
