A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold. Proverbs 22:1
What we make of our name will ultimately be what we’re remembered for. Our name is tied to our character. The value of your name is developed like trust–over time, through a variety of circumstances, and with consistent actions, either good or bad. When people think of you, does it put a smile on their faces or a furrow on their foreheads?
If you have a good name and loving favor with others, that’s worth millions—good for you! If not, let me encourage you that you can have both. God gives all His followers an opportunity to reset their identity and name.
The first step is to call on His name. Whoever calls on the name of Jesus will be saved from their sinful past, because in His name there is forgiveness. He will write your name in the Lamb’s Book of Life and guide your life in newness with a purpose and a future. Are you His? Have you called on His name? In the best way you know how – ask Him.
