Give us each day our daily bread. Luke 11:3
When Jesus was teaching His disciples to pray, He was not suggesting we beg for daily rations, nor is He interested in hearing a script recited repeatedly. I believe this section of the prayer was actually leading his learners to a heart of thankfulness.
When we consider the generous provision God grants, we should be filled with gratitude. Why not add a spiritual moment to your meal? Each time we eat, there is an opportunity for thankfulness. When your taste buds are activated by the delicious food you are eating, it is a good time to pause and surrender to the amazing God who created all things, and thank Him for your daily bread or taco or spaghetti.
Eating, with the knowledge that God knows your needs and has provided for you, might just fill your stomach and nourish your soul.
Blessings,
