Lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil… Luke 11:4
Satan is a tempter and wants to see us fail, but we don’t need anyone’s help with temptation. Each of us is tempted and lead away by our own desires and the natural enticements this world offers. A quick review of our own failings will reveal the most vulnerable areas of our weaknesses and struggles with sin.
God knows how weak we are. He knows we want to do well but cave easily under the right pressure. He sent Jesus to deliver us from evil—to give us an alternative. Don’t take the route your temptations and triggers suggest, take the detour God provides, and be delivered to the brighter future He has in mind for you.
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure. 1 Corinthians 10:13
Asking for God’s strength and taking steps to avoid the places, people, and things that tempt you is a great place to start on your path to deliverance.
God, deliver us–Keep us safe from ourselves and from the devil. Matthew 6:13
