A Devotional Thought for Today
February 10, 2013 – Unbelief
Mark 16:11 When they heard that He (Jesus) was alive and had been seen by her (Mary), they did not believe.
The disciples wasted time apart from Jesus during His final days on the earth due to their unbelief. When they were finally gathered with Jesus, He scolded them for hearing the testimony of Mary and others that He was alive, yet rejecting it.
I don’t always believe He is alive, and I prove that by my actions. I wish it was not true as often as it is, but sometimes I get so consumed with the everyday affairs of life that I forget to include God in my day to the level He deserves.
It has been said, “One sign of personal revival is we find ourselves living in constant God-moments.” We have the opportunity to live at a deeper level and experience God’s very best by connecting to His desires and plans for our lives. When we are intentionally listening and watching, we become keenly aware of His activities all around and recognize His divine appointments.
When we are living tuned into Him, we realize no matter what the day brings or how much hurt it may contain, our confidence is that everything coming our way has gone through His divine filter. We can look and find Him in normal places that may have been unseen to us before. We can learn to anticipate God at work in our lives and being used by Him as an encourager of others.
God, I believe – help my unbelief. Please direct my day. Open up my eyes and ears to recognize the amazing things You are doing all around me. You promise those who seek You will find You–let it be for me today.
He who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6
