Behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Matthew 28:20
Do you ever feel like you keep taking five steps forward followed immediately by three steps backward? If so, you are not alone. I’m sure we all have. I wish I could say I learn after my mistakes the first time around, but that is not always the case either. At times, we aren’t even successful at carrying out the things we know are best for us.
In spite of our weaknesses and failures of yesterday, we need to be intent on faithfully representing our faith today. It’s been said this way, allow God to turn your mess into messages. God often walks with us through difficult situations rather than taking us out of them. He promises He will never leave us and that in the end, it will work out for good. We may just have to wait awhile.
Let your life be a message to others. When you are unmoved in your faith and devotion to God, people will take notice. There are people around you that need to see you stand for Christ. It inspires them to follow your lead and step out in their faith too. Yes, all who desire to live godly will suffer persecution (2 Tim 3:12), but don’t let that stop you from doing what is right.
Make a point to use words that heal and words that build, words that comfort and words that bring life. Let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but what is good and needed, that gives grace to the hearers. Ephesians 4:29. Sure, words of correction will come into play, but let’s not dominate with them and use them to crush another soul.
If five steps forward minus three steps back has got you down and you feel stuck in the pattern of losing ground already gained, let me encourage you today to keep taking steps in the right direction. Net two means you are making forward progress and moving closer to your final destination. Keep up the good work.
