Wandering or Wondering
They wandered in the wilderness hungry and thirsty. When they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, He delivered them out of their distresses and led them in the right way. Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness and for His wonderful works. Psalm 107:4-8
This psalm shows a cycle of wandering and distress that is repeated four times. Each time there is a cry to the Lord for help, and ultimate deliverance by our wonderful God.
The story of Israel and their wayward heart is reminiscent of our own. During times of plenty, we are prone to wander. Our minds pursue the mirage of fleshly delicacies we think will satisfy. We get all caught up in pursuit, but before long, we find that what felt good for a moment left us empty and wandering in circles.
The only way to break free and find the right path again is to cry out to the Lord, confess our need, and ask for His guidance. Coming back to God is not a sign of weakness; it’s a display of wisdom.
Has your wandering left you wondering? Are you second-guessing God’s goodness, His plan, or His provision? Perhaps it’s time to stop and ask for His help and direction.
Blessings,
Wes
