July 2014 Volume 3 Issue 7
I have officially declared July (the 7th month of the year) Code 7 Month. Since it is our special month, I figure we should do some unique things for our friends in law enforcement to celebrate. On the 7th day of this 7th month, I sent a special drawing invitation to all law enforcement personnel related to Code 7. We will be having a drawing for 21 gift cards–7 at Outback Steakhouse, 7 at Island’s Fine Burgers, and 7 at Jamba Juice. Lucky #7!
Typically, we provide a monthly squad meal, but since this is July, we will be providing 10 squad meals; one for each squad. In essence, we will be providing a Code 7 for each patrol officer in Chula Vista and National City.
The past few weeks have had me in handcuffs. Well, not on my wrists but in my pockets. Each new officer gets a pair of slick black handcuffs engraved with his/her badge # and the logos of Code 7 and California Police Equipment (CPE). They also are presented with a Certificate of Congratulations from Code 7, a gift card from CPE, and a Donny’s Café gift card. A special thanks goes out to my sponsors for helping make this possible.
I heard last week that Police officers are at five times the risk of a cardiac event due to the stress they carry from the work they perform. Remember to pray for the officers and their health. Your prayers are a difference maker!
Everyone that gives financially to Code 7 this month will receive a Code 7 window sticker in the mail. I hope you have a need to check your mailbox =)
The chaplain presence in the patrol car with the officers is a benefit they receive because of your financial support. Thank you for making it possible.
I find peace in knowing that God loves cops infinitely more than I do and that He will continue to pursue them long after my life has interacted theirs.
